My name is Tasha and I'm helping raise money for Grace's best friend Ayla. Ayla is an 11 year old girl from Vancouver Island recently diagnosed with T cell Acute lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) while on vacation visiting family in Windsor, Ontario. T cell ALL is an uncommon aggressive malignant neoplasm of the bone marrow. This is her story
A week before she left for a vacation to Ontario to visit family they went to the beach and she had a bad headache and wanted to leave . From that day on she was sleeping a lot she had a sore tummy she wasn't really eating along with an achy body .
Her mom took her into the hospital in Victoria and they were there for 11 hours and they said she just had a virus and if she wasn't better in a week to bring her back . The doctor reassured that the doctors in Windsor were really good if she still wasn’t well but cleared her to fly.
She came out to Ontario with her dad two days after they were in the hospital the first time . A few days later she still wasn't feeling better so her dad took her to a clinic and said if you're worried take her to the hospital so he did .
That hospital did blood work, and any parents worst nightmare became their new reality. The words no parent wants to hear “your daughter has cancer” Her white blood cell count was 250 (normal is 10 or lower), they sent her by ambulance to London Children’s hospital in London, ON who have the best team to treat kids with cancer.
Ayla will undergo chemo therapy under the induction phase (minimum 28 days) in London with the hopes of being transferred to Vancouver Children’s hospital when it is safe to do so.
Although Ayla has undergone the most intense treatments, lost all of her hair , and is emotionally and physically exhausted, she continues to smile and stay positive and has the will power she needs to defeat cancer.
If any little girl has the will to beat this, it would be Miss Ayla.
With a long bumpy road ahead of them.. we want to support her and her family to take some of the financial stress away while in Ontario. I'm not sure how much the family will be needing so started it at a fair amount I feel that will help relieve some pressure. Please give to help support this little girl who has the BIGGEST hearts in the world! No amount is too small! Thank you for all you can do!
