Hello everyone, my name is Arianna Sanchez, and I am starting this GoFundMe journey because the brakes on my 2001 chevy recently began failing, the issues include leaking brake fluid, all brake pads needing replacements, several other leaks (including oil), and the tires needing completely new bearings. The mechanic quoted me $4,500.00 so they could put in a whole new braking system but that is even more than what we paid for the car when we got it 10 years ago... That price would not even include fixing the interior. The inside of the car has been slowly falling apart for years, in the photos below you can see that the dashboard, the ac vents, radio portion, and the part where the speedometer is, is cracking and covering the some of the numbers. The visor fabric is also completely ruined; the glove box door melted and fell off recently (so it's unfixable), there is also exposed electrical wires in the trunk where the lightbulb is which is another hazard. Unless the car is fixed the mechanic told me it is completely unsafe to drive it anywhere. Also, because the car is almost 25 years old, parts are becoming harder to find which drives up the price substantially. The engine currently has over 150,000 miles meaning that it only has so long left before it too needs replacing. As a college student who is away from home for the first time, I cannot afford to keep this car as a project. The rise of tuition has also put me in a rough spot financially. It has come to the point where I would rather get a new used car that is in better condition. I would like something that has a lower mileage that is not falling apart and can get me from point a to point b for the rest of my years of college. Without a car I have not been able to go to work, and I also can't do the required volunteering hours for my child development classes. This situation came out of the blue and has caused me a lot of stress on top of my school and workload. I wouldn't ask if I didn't genuinely need the aid. Anything helps; God bless.
