Three months ago, our family was devastated by the loss of a beloved mother, daughter, friend, sister, niece and cousin, to brain cancer. Kimberly fought so bravely, but her passing at age 42, left behind two young daughters, ages 9 and 14, whose lives have been marked by far too much upheaval during this time.
In early 2015, Kimberly’s mom, Anne, relocated from Wisconsin to Florida, in order to support with homeschooling and other childcare duties, as well as to be close to her only child and grandchild. During 2015/16, Kimberly had an emotionally stressful pregnancy with her youngest, culminating in pre-eclampsia and a premature birth. When her premature newborn was just 6 weeks old, due to a sudden change in her family situation, Kimberly found herself having to manage the day-to-day parenting duties on her own. Anne then lovingly stepped in as a live in primary caregiver for the girls, and as a support to Kimberly.
Over the years, Anne also contributed financially towards the girls’ needs and household expenses, offering support freely and out of love, in order to provide stability. Following Kimberly’s passing, the girls and Anne are now facing a major transition. The family home where the girls have grown up with Anne and Kimberly, which belonged to their parents, is being sold, and the children will be relocating.
Anne, at the age of 74, is facing the loss of her home and financial security. She has limited income and due to her financial contributions over the years, has no means to absorb such a sudden, unexpected change. Whilst grieving the death of her only child and her role as a primary caregiver to her grandchildren, she must now try and find a new place to live and cover expenses during this difficult transition.
We are raising funds to help Anne with:
Housing and relocation costs
Living expenses
