Terrible news struck the family of my friend’s daughter, Cherise. In August 2019, Cherise’s then 2 ½ year old fraternal twin daughter, Alivia was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, adrenocortical carcinoma. Surgery followed immediately and a tumor was successfully removed. Doctors then began the treatment of chemotherapy soon after Alivia recovered from her surgery. There would be a chemo session once every 3 weeks. There were chemo pills she must take daily among other meds. Each chemo session would take a week of hospitalization. Because Alivia’s immune system was so compromised during each session, she would end up being hospitalized a week or more afterward for various reasons (such as fevers, low blood sugar, low electrolytes, need for blood transfusions, etc.)
At such young age, Alivia’s parents could not and would not leave her alone in the hospital. Cherise would stay at the hospital during the day and Jeremy, Alivia’s father, would stay overnight. Besides taking turn to care for Alivia, they also had to take care of Trystan, their fraternal twin son. This schedule made it impossible for either of them to go to work. Cherise had been on family leave from work. Since Jeremy’s job is not salaried, he would not get paid if he did not work. Through months of devoted care for Alivia and Trystan, financial strain began to grow. Of course, mortgage and bills kept coming and needed to be paid.
I am here to ask you to help this young family to avert another crisis – a financial one this time! This campaign has been created as a way for you to offer your thoughts, prayers and contributions towards helping Jeremy, Cherise, Alivia and Trystan through these difficult times emotionally and financially. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated.
Together we can reach this goal. Every donation, big or small, count. Thank you for your concern and help.
