I am looking to seek hope for my aunt. Her name is Cheryl. She is 76 years old and a completely selfless woman. She is compassionate and always willing to lend a hand. She is so not deserving of such a tragic event, of course, as well as anyone else. Sadly, she and her dog have tragically been displaced from her apartment due to a sudden fire on Dec 14th. She had been woken up around 7 am to banging on her door to leave immediately with smoke filling her hallways and home. It is absolutely devastating this has even happened just before the holidays and has not only put out my auntie but over 40+ families along with her. As each person’s financial and family situation is different, I am in great hope that we can come together and help restore hope and generosity. Even though this is a devastatingly scary situation that thankfully spared the lives of many, it has now drastically changed the lives of many, placing them without a home or able to gather all of their belongings, including my aunt.
I do kindly plead with you, if you could please find it in your hearts to spare any contribution—no matter how small, it would mean the world to my auntie during this incredibly challenging time.
While we are grateful that everyone is safe, the loss and damage of her/their belongings is overwhelming.
I’m reaching out for support in this moment of crisis. As humble as my auntie is, she would never ask herself. I have decided to set up a GoFundMe on her behalf to assist with immediate needs like temporary housing, clothing, and basic essentials. As it has been told by a source of East Greenwich, it could be months beyond months before this apartment building could even be livable again. It has been deemed condemned for now, as there was so much roof damage, water, and smoke damage within the building. Even with that being said, the trauma, fear, and worry of returning there could be even more overwhelming for her. I can’t even imagine. At age 76, to have to start all over again is just absolutely heartbreaking.
So, if she is able to gain a little more hope that something positive can come out of a situation so tragic, she could find a more suitable place to start over fresh.
Please feel free to share it with others who might be willing to help.
Thank you so much for your generosity, care, and prayers.
