I am Mervat, a 21-year-old university student, and I have big dreams, just like any girl my age. But I live in Gaza, where dreams have become a luxury, and where resilience has become a daily miracle.

Hour-long power outages, water scarcity, and the lack of job opportunities besiege us, as they do many families here. My mother goes to sleep wondering how she will feed my younger siblings tomorrow, and my father, who dreamed of providing us with a decent life, finds himself helpless in the face of this deadly poverty.

But hope has not died, and it will not.
