JCAN Advocates for Mental Wellness among Black Seniors and Underserved Communities.
JCAN (Joint Coalition Addressing Needs) founded by nurses in 2014, is a compassionate not-for-profit organization devoted to uplifting community well-being. In the province of Ontario, a silent struggle persists among Black seniors and other underserved populations, who experience higher rates of mental health challenges compared to their counterparts in other demographic groups.
Unveiling the layers of this concern, we discover a poignant narrative shaped by social isolation and loneliness, casting a disproportionate shadow on seniors from marginalized communities. JCAN stands at the forefront, recognizing the urgency of this issue and committing to weaving a safety net of support and resources that mirrors the vibrant tapestry of Black seniors and other underserved groups' lived experiences.
Our pledge is bold: to create a haven where culturally relevant programs speak directly to the unique journey of Black seniors and underserved communities. Through these tailored initiatives, we aim to confront the distinctive challenges they face, nurturing a sense of belonging and championing mental well-being within the community.
JCAN is not just an organization; it's a beacon of change. Together, let's shatter the barriers of isolation and loneliness, crafting a space where Black seniors and underserved communities not only survive but thrive. Your contribution will spark a transformation in their lives, fostering a community that understands, uplifts, and supports.
This GoFundMe campaign is a lifeline, intended to sustain JCANs "Social Connect for Seniors". A program that welcomes over 140 seniors weekly. We cannot do it without your support. Join us in rewriting the narrative for Black seniors and other underserved communities—because everyone deserves to age with dignity and resilience. Your support propels the vision of a community where mental well-being knows no bounds.
Stand with JCAN today, contribute to our GoFundMe, and be part of a movement that echoes through generations, leaving an indelible mark on the journey to enhanced well-being for Black seniors and underserved groups.
