Hi, my name is Tori and I’m here asking for your help.

During the past week, my parents lives were turned upside down when catastrophic floods swept through their community in Taree. In a matter of hours their dream home, which they only moved into a mere four weeks ago, was inundated by flood waters. Their belongings and cherished memories were submerged and destroyed.

We are so lucky they have had the support of their close friends to keep themselves safe, but as for the house, there is much work to be done.

The waters rose so high that the second level of their 2-level split home was swallowed, leaving few possessions to spare. The swollen walls have been cut up 1.2m from the floor to make way for new gyprock, the three bedframes and mattresses are all no longer usable, the fridge, oven, dishwasher and all lower cabinets of the kitchen have been torn out due to water damage. This doesn’t even explain half of their troubles and the cost of the clean up to come. The garage ceiling has collapsed and the back yard is now covered in thick mud and sludge.

We understand and appreciate that this record high flood has caused havoc among many in Taree, Wingham and surrounds and we understand that so many people are struggling during this time, whether it be due to the floods or the current cost of living crisis.

Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to stability and repair. Your donations will go directly to my parents to assist them financially with the long journey that is rebuilding and renovating their home to make it liveable again.
