A Plea for baby Le (an IVF journey)

Aimee is a dear friend of mine. I have watched her and Adam try to grow their family for years now. I have watched her try every trick in the book, medicine, procedure or whatever she and Adam can to welcome a baby into their family. I have awaited results, looked at ultrasound pictures, talked to her, prayed for her, recruited friends and family to pray for her, sent good vibes and did a dance. You name it, I have done it to try and help this precious family grow by one more. I have watched them anxiously await the day to test, get excited by a positive test and then the devastation of yet another loss. I wish I could change things for them, but of course, I cannot. But if you know me, you know that I do not give up that easy. I cannot grant them their biggest wish BUT, I can help them get one step closer to getting their biggest wish. Most of y’all know about the 3 year long struggle with infertility that Adam and I have been going through. 1,133 days of praying, hoping, trying and waiting. 584 days of countless doctor’s appointments, medications, injections, ultrasounds, bloodwork, tests, diets, vitamins, praying, hoping, trying and waiting. We have felt the joy of pregnancy six times, only to have that joy ripped from us in miscarriage.

I cried in church today because our Pastor prayed for not only physical mothers, but mothers in every season. Mothers who have lost and mothers in wait. I am grateful to the sisters in Christ who prayed over me in the restroom this morning. Though today is a sad emotional day for us, we couldn’t think of a better day to announce that we will begin IVF (in-vitro fertilization) in late June or early July. We are nervous, hopeful, faithful and excited at this substantial opportunity to be the parents we both want so much to be. We are so thankful to have a fantastic team of doctors, nurse practitioners, financial coordinators and staff at Alabama Fertility. Dr. Malizia and Joan NP are worth their weight in gold.

The only unfortunate aspect of this opportunity is the enormous financial burden it will place on our little family. For nearly 2 years, we have spent and spent and spent on treatments, medications, surgeries, tests and so much more to try to grow our family. But as they say, it takes a village to raise a child, so we are now asking our village to help us bring our miracle into this world. So, if you are so inclined (and we beg that you do not feel obligated), we will appreciate and cherish anything you are willing to give.

We love y’all so much and could not have made it through the last 3 years without your continued love, prayers and support. We may never know why we have gone through this season of waiting if just, at the least, to demonstrate our testimony of true faith. But, we know the plan is much bigger and better than anything we could ever have imagined.
