Poppy LOVES being outside & she LOVES playing on her playset. For someone like Poppy, her playset is not just a place of enjoyment, but it is also beneficial for her developing balance, large muscle strength, coordination, problem solving, endurance, and independence. It's the equivalent of having physical therapy right in her backyard.
Knowing this, Poppy was granted the most wonderful playset through a Chive Charities' grant when she was 4. She spent as much time as humanly possible playing and developing strength on her playset.
Last summer, Poppy's Ohio Nan passed away quickly from lung cancer. This prompted us to relocate the family from Oregon back to the family farm in Ohio. Unfortunately, due to the distance and time restraints of the trip, we had to leave Poppy's beloved playset behind. We were able to move the playset to the home of Poppy's best friend and fellow Chiver, Caroline, so it could continue to do great things.
The playset here in Ohio has definitely seen better days, and is ultimately an accident waiting to happen. Exposed rusty nails, missing boards, and rotten wood all create a very unsafe situation for Miss Poppy. Alas, it is very difficult to convince her to stay clear of the structure. If you know Poppy, you know she has a mind of her own and great tenacity for getting her way! It's hard to keep her from something that provides her with both hours of entertainment and much needed exercise.
Poppy's 7th birthday is coming up on August 16th. She is a hard kid to buy presents for as you never really know what she will actually play with. We do know she will play with and benefit greatly from a new playset. In lieu of any other presents, we would love to join forces with Poppy's friends and family to purchase her a new safe and functional playset for her birthday. Any amount you could donate would be greatly appreciated by all!! Thank you!
