Play Safe, Stay Safe: Sardis AED Fundraiser

Donation protected
The Sardis Sports Complex would like an AED to ensure the safety of all its young athletes and visitors. Kids are often engaged in high-energy activities, and while they are generally healthy, sudden cardiac events can still occur, particularly in those with undiagnosed heart conditions. Having an AED on-site provides the ability to respond quickly in an emergency, drastically increasing the chances of survival in the event of sudden cardiac arrest. Time is critical, and an AED can deliver life-saving shocks within the first few minutes, before paramedics arrive. With children being especially vulnerable during physical activities, having an AED readily available would give parents, coaches, and staff peace of mind, knowing that the park is equipped to handle cardiac emergencies swiftly and effectively. Your generous donations will directly contribute to raising the necessary funds to purchase this life-saving device, ensuring that the Sardis Sports Complex is prepared to protect its young athletes and community members.

Here are some quick facts about AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators):

Purpose: AEDs are used to treat sudden cardiac arrest by delivering a shock to the heart to restore a normal rhythm.

Ease of Use: AEDs are designed to be user-friendly and can be used by non-medical personnel.

How It Works: The device analyzes the heart's rhythm and, if needed, delivers a shock to restart the heart.

Safety: AEDs are equipped with voice prompts and visual instructions to guide the user through the process.

Speed: Early defibrillation, ideally within 3-5 minutes, increases the survival chances of a cardiac arrest victim by 70%.

Location: AEDs are often found in public places like airports, schools, gyms, and office buildings.

No Harm to Others: The device only delivers a shock if needed, so it’s safe to use on anyone in need, even if you're unsure of their condition.

Maintenance: AEDs are designed to be low-maintenance, with regular self-checks to ensure they’re ready to use.

Legal Protection: Good Samaritan laws often protect bystanders who use AEDs in emergencies.
