Play, Heal, Grow: Disaster Relief for Youth and Families
Donation protected
Greetings, Thank you to everyone who has already donated and helped to get the word out. So far between GoFundMe and an Amazon Wishlist we have been able to donation over 1000+ items including art supplies, play therapy supplies, books, comfort items like stuffed animals. Our disaster relief project focuses on delivering essential items to help support emotional and mental health.
Who we are: I am child and family therapist with Crossroads Child and Family Therapy in Bellevue, WA. I have partnered with Olympia Therapy and Eastside Play Therapy to launch a Disaster Relief Project to support communities and our mental health colleagues that are impacted by Hurricane Helene and Milton. This wide spread disaster has left so many youth and families in need of basic supplies, comfort items, and emotional and mental health support. We did similar disaster relief projects for families impacted by the Maui Fires last year with the help of therapists and communities member throughout the US, we were able to help support 200+ families, 39 schools, and Haku Baldwin Center.
We have teamed up with play therapists in impacted areas to deliver supplies to front line mental health therapists, community agencies and shelters throughout WNC. We continue to work on delivering supplies to ETN, GA, and FL. And we are anticipating, working to help supply OK.
We know that physical recovery is just one piece of the puzzle—children and families are also grappling with the trauma of displacement and loss. That’s why we are committed to providing disaster mental health care, including play therapy and art therapy supplies, sensory-based supplies, and comfort items to help children process their emotions and begin to heal.
Your donation will provide immediate relief and bring comfort to those who need it most. For mental health professionals, your contributions can make a direct and lasting impact. We are raising funds to supply therapists on the ground with the tools they need to support the emotional well-being of youth and families in crisis, such as art supplies, play therapy kits, and counseling resources. Each dollar donated will be used to provide trauma-informed care for children who are struggling to make sense of this disaster. By supporting this project, you can help bring both physical relief and emotional healing to families affected by Natural Disasters. Every donation counts, and with your help, we can bring hope and healing to these communities.
