It all began with a dream…
One night Grace had a dream, and in that dream, there was an embryo that would be aborted if it did not get adopted. The Lord asked me if I would adopt this embryo and give this baby a chance at life. This was my first introduction to embryo adoption.
This dream was planted in our hearts long before we knew that our journey would involve six miscarriages and a battle with infertility. After much prayer and waiting, we have felt the Lord saying that it is time for this dream to come true and we could not be more excited to be starting our embryo adoption journey!
We realize that this form of adoption is not as familiar to most people as other typical adoptions, so I will briefly explain. Any couple who has gone through IVF and has embryos that they have not used has three options: 1) to abort the embryos; 2) to donate them to science; 3) to donate them to couples who are looking to adopt them. Since we believe that life begins at conception, this form of adoption felt right to us. It is our desire to give these currently frozen embryos a chance at life and to not discard what is so sacred: a child at its earliest stage of life.
We have chosen to adopt from the Czech Republic and we look forward to making a trip to Prague late summer or early fall for our first embryo transfer! Please join us in praying for a successful transfer and for the miracle of life.
