Root to Rise: A Farm to Nourish and Empower 300 Girls
Donation protected
My name is Marina, and very soon I’m turning 40. As a mother and a lifelong believer in the power of education and life skills , I wanted to mark this birthday by doing something that would plant lasting seeds — not just for me, but for others.
Last year, our son Leo spent a month volunteering at the Kenya Kesho School for Girls, alongside his friend Rex. They went to teach mathematics, science, football and art — but what they found was something far deeper: a school filled with brilliant, resilient girls who dream big, despite enormous challenges.
The Kenya Kesho School, located in one of the poorest regions of Kenya, is a beacon of hope. It provides a safe, nurturing, high-quality education to almost 300 girls, many of whom would otherwise be at risk of child marriage or missing out on school altogether due to poverty.
But many of these girls arrive at school hungry. Their families simply don’t have enough food. And hungry children can’t thrive, no matter how good the teaching is.
That’s why we need your support to help the school build a self-sustaining farm — a living classroom and food source that will:
- Feed all 300 girls two nutritious meals a day
- Teach them how to grow food, compost, and care for the land
- Model sustainability for the wider community
This project is part of a larger vision. The school is also preparing to launch “Farming for Mothers, Daughters and Fathers”, a community program to help the girls’ families become self-sufficient through farming. But our first step is the school farm — and this is where I hope you’ll join us.
The total cost of the farm is $66,400 USD, and we already have some early momentum. Leo and Rex ran the London Half Marathon to support the school, and now with help from friends and family, we look forward gather around something that truly matters.
Costs US$
Infrastructure and tools $24,000
Soil Fertility $3,500

Every donation will help feed, teach, and empower these 300 girls — and build a future where hope grows from the ground up.
I don’t know you...but I am another you.
She — the girl planting seeds in Kenya — she is another me.
What would you do for another you?
Let’s plant something beautiful, together, as one.
With love and gratitude sending blessings to all of you,
Marina
