Planters Eagle Project
Donation protected
I joined the BSA when I was in first grade, and in the 10 years I have spent as a part of the organization, it has taught me many life skills that apply to many different aspects of life. The organization has helped me throughout my life and one of the most important lessons that it has taught me is to give back to the community where I live. I want to accomplish this through my Eagle Scout project.
Eagle scout is a very prestigious rank and shows a scout’s dedication to their community, the people around them, and to grow and improve themselves. One of the requirements for completing Eagle Scout is planning and executing a project that benefits the community. It provides an opportunity for the scout to showcase the various skills they have learned throughout their scouting career, such as planning, leadership, adapting to the situation.
My eagle project is to build planters for one of the local libraries, John F. Kennedy Memorial Library, and to re-finish the benches in the sitting area next to Hoes Lane at the same library. Re-finishing the benches and cleaning up the area they are in would make the outdoor sitting area much more inviting and it would motivate people to spend time getting fresh air. People can sit there and read, talk, or find respite from the hustle and bustle of their busy lives. The planters would provide a much more natural feel to the parking lot entrance of the library and it would motivate people to come and sit with the plants. Both of the things I am planning on doing are intended to motivate people to spend time outside and get a break from the indoors and all the technology.
