Imagine that you are a flight away from finally reuniting with your two children that just crossed the border but you don’t have the money to purchase their flight tickets and are being told that your kids will be sent to a social worker in one week if you can’t afford their fight tickets. "Hello, my name is Aida. I am a member leader of Make the Road PA and I am trying to raise money to purchase tickets and be able to reunite with my children. I have four children, two are here with me and two are migrant refugees from Honduras and they are now in Texas. I need your help to purchase their flight tickets so that I can reunite with them.
I am 40 years old, and I came from Honduras seeking asylum. I have lived in Pennsylvania with my husband and two teenage daughters since 2018. My children in Texas need your help, my daughter is 17 years old and my son is 23, they both came alone, looking for a better opportunity for themselves. I need your help to help buy their flight tickets soon because I’m told that they will be sent to social workers soon if I can’t bring them to Pennsylvania.
The coronavirus pandemic has been a disaster for my family and caused our recent eviction from our apartment. We are struggling so much right now, and for this reason, I can’t afford the $1,300 needed to buy the tickets for them to fly from Texas to Pennsylvania. I'm between jobs and my husband only gets a few hours at work. We need your help. Millions of families are suffering like mine, but due to our immigration status, we are not eligible for all forms of financial assistance such as receiving federal aid money. My family has been excluded from unemployment assistance, rental assistance, and food stamps.
In Honduras life was extremely hard, I lived in poverty and my family was struggling to bring food to the table at the end of each day. I have not seen my children in over one year. Since I arrived, I have established myself, working several hard jobs over the years, including being a farm worker.
I want to see my children grow up and see them flourish in the United States. My family is extremely important to me which is why I need your help. I am a desperate mother, please I am asking for your help. The sooner I gather the money, the sooner that they can be with me. They are alone. I am desperate because I don't know if they are starving and cold. Please, I am a mother who is worried about her children.
My children are alone in Texas in a family facility. This puts them at risk. I need $1,300 to buy their plane tickets. Because of my job loss due to the pandemic and two little girls already with me, I'm unable to pay for it myself. I need the community to back me up, every dollar helps, every dollar counts!
