Professional Liverpool's legendary Cannes Do is partnering with two charities this year - The Hive, Wirral Youth Zone and Fields in Trust.
The Hive, Wirral Youth Zone has a vision for every young person to be happy, healthy and thrive within their community. The Hive always put young people first and combine high quality youth work with inspiring activities in an inclusive, safe space. They provide the opportunities, knowledge and confidence to make positive choices to help raise aspirations and encourage our members to be the best version of themselves. The Hive is open to all young people aged 8 – 19 or 25 with an additional need, who pay £5 annual membership and 50p each time they visit. They have access to state of the art facilities overseen by an amazing team of youth workers including a climbing wall, boxing gym, recording studio, sports hall, 4G MUGA pitch, skate park, music room, fitness studio and recreation area, as well as a wealth of targeted projects.
The Hive will use every £ donated to cover the cost of a hot, healthy meal for a vulnerable child at risk of going hungry. With 1 in 3 children living in poverty in some parts of the Wirral, this would be a vital lifeline to many young people.
The event is also supporting Fields in Trust, the only UK charity that protects parks and green spaces in perpetuity. 1 in 6 Liverpool residents have no access to a private or shared garden, and the average size of a private outdoor space in the city is less than half that found across England. Access to parks supports our mental health, our physical health, our communities and helps in the fight against climate change – and their existence is vital if they are your only option for spending time outside.
Can you imagine Liverpool without its parks? Once complete, this programme of protection will make Liverpool the first city in England to have permanently secured the future of its parks.
Thank you for your support for these very worthwhile causes.
