Hi! It’s Corey! (Instagram
) I’m a humanitarian and pizzaiolo from Portland, Oregon now living in Lviv, Ukraine to help the effort in making the war here safer, shorter, and more bearable for Ukrainians. The mission of my organization Pizza for Ukraine is to make pizza, not war. Through my pizza diplomacy mission, I make Neapolitan pizza for displaced, wounded, orphaned, and active duty Ukrainians, as well as fundraise for incredible local charities that deserve international recognition.
Having previously worked for 2 months with World Central Kitchen on the Ukrainian border in Poland feeding Ukrainian refugees with hundreds of thousands of meals, I’ve now started my own organization. The idea behind Pizza for Ukraine is to host cultural aid events that encompass food, music, and art to remind Ukrainians that they are not alone. It is the least we can do for a country that is fighting on the frontlines of democracy.
Your donations help keep Pizza for Ukraine's fight alive by making it more mobile and diversified. Making it more mobile by affording a van or SUV means I can more easily reach Ukrainians in need, more often. Making it more diversified means I can deliver more than just pizza, but also food kits, medical supplies, and tactical gear.
- Van or SUV: For running supplies across the border from Poland that cannot be shipped to Ukraine, as well as driving cooking equipment, ingredients, and any requested supplies to Ukrainians in need around the country.
- Hiring Ukrainians: An assistant / photographer / media manager. Most of my time is dedicated to donors and sponsors, finding volunteers, and during events I'm busy cooking pizza. Hiring employees to organize and promote events, photograph and film them, and edit all footage is the next step.
- General Living Expenses
What I'm attempting to build is an organization that can scale to the need. More fundraising events for more charities, wider reach for promoting these events, attracting more donors to keep this vision alive, and affording more supplies that Ukrainians request to keep them safe.
Russia’s terrorist activities are the only things keeping this war in the news cycle, but behind the international headlines is a war that is still raging with millions living under constant threat and no end in sight. Winter is coming, and with it comes a freeze that will effect those without fuel or safety and could pave the road for russia to open up the northern front of Belarus. Sometimes time isn’t a clock, it’s a countdown. Please share. And thank you for your support!
