Pizza for Heroes
Donation protected
As many of you may know, my son Brandon is part of the management team at Artichoke Pizza in and around NYC. Over the past several weeks, they have been receiving requests from hospital staff for donations of pizza to supply to medical teams directly facing the corona-virus pandemic. Most hospital workers are working 12+ hour shifts and have little time to go to the cafeteria, let alone leave the building for lunch. Providing meals for the workers not only gives them a sign of appreciation from a very grateful community but a much needed escape......a hot meal from the outside world.

Due to restricted resources and the toll the pandemic has taken on the restaurant business, Artichoke Pizza has had to close most of their stores and hasn't been able to fulfill all of the donation requests for food they've been receiving from the hospitals.

For $20 per pizza which is the net cost of an Artichoke pizza (retail cost is $32), they are able to provide individuals the opportunity to directly help feed our emergency workers and fulfill outstanding meal donation requests. The $20 covers the cost of the product used and the wages of the employees fulfilling the order. Most restaurant workers have been laid off so the orders not only help the hospital workers but also the restaurant workers. A win-win in my book.

An average hospital unit order has been 20 pies ($400).

So far through generous contributions from people like you, they have fed teams at The Brooklyn Hospital Center (100 people), Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (two shifts of 50 people each), Lincoln Medical Center (50 people) , Beth Israel Medical Center (75 people) and Wyckoff Heights Medical Center(100 people). They currently have 4 hospital orders outstanding and more coming in every day. Next Tuesday will feed 100 staff at NYU in two ICU wards. There is much more to do. There are requests from SUNY Downstate Medical Center (125 people) and NY Presbyterian (quantity TBD).
Won't you consider a small donation to help the cause?
Thank you to our front line healthcare workers who put their lives on the line for us everyday. You are our heroes!!!
