PIP Challenge (Poured-in-Place)

Donation protected
Playgrounds are a great way to build community; offering folks in our rural area a place to meet neighbors and play together.  Playground designs are many and purposes varied.  Locally our purpose is inclusiveness.  If a playground surface prevents even one child from playing with their friends, that is one child too many.  That is why the Lent Township Playground is a priority!

Young siblings of those playing ball on the field near the Town Hall have had few choices to keep them occupied.  Two years ago, that changed when our playground began to take shape.  Today it has become a gem enjoyed by many…. but not all.  That is the purpose of the “PIP Challenge”.

A primary goal of the playground is to make it as inclusive as possible.  Some children and adults with mobility issues are hindered by the typical surface on playgrounds.   The final step is to add a poured-in-place (PIP) wheelchair accessible pathway between pieces of equipment so everyone may enjoy the playground.

We invite you to help us complete this project!   We have 1/3 of the funds needed, thanks to the “PIP Challenge” which started with a single donation of $6,000 to complete a poured-in-place (PIP) accessible pathway on our playground.

Now it is your turn to help
reach our goal of $12,000 still needed.  You may give your gift here on the convenient GO FUND ME page, OR drop off or mail a tax-deductible donation to:  Lent Town Hall, 33155 Hemmingway Ave., Stacy, MN 55079.   Please make checks payable to: “Lent Township” with “Playground Fund” on the memo line.
THANK YOU!

Background on our Playground:

April 21, 2015, the Lent Town Board approved a recommendation of the Parks Committee to proceed with building a playground on the green space near the Town Hall on the east side of the ball field.

Thanks to the Stacy Lions donations to Lent Township for Parks, and donations from our Lent citizens’, significant pieces of play equipment were purchased and installed in 2015.   A temporary surface of the playground was installed in 2016 along with additional equipment. Thanks to the Stacy-Lent Fire Dept. a protective fence was also installed.

A primary goal of the playground is to make it as inclusive as possible. A “poured-in-place” (PIP) surface will allow wheelchairs to move easily among the pieces of equipment. The PIP will be installed when donations permit.

Another means to support the PIP goal is through an ENGRAVED BRICK FUNDRAISER to create a designated area at the new playground. Engraved Bricks provide permanent donor recognition and leave a lasting legacy. They may commemorate people and organizations that contribute to this endeavor or memorialize and honor loved ones.  Additional funds, over and above the costs of the designated brick area, will be applied toward the poured-in-place (PIP) playground surface.  https://polarengraving.com/LentTownshipPlaygroundProject
