Pine River Beautification and Library Enhancement
Donation protected
The Community of Pine River and the Town of Leon are coming together to remedy a longtime eyesore in Pine River. Anyone who has driven through our town has come to know the dilapidated, abandoned house next to the library.
Recently, the Town of Leon acquired the onetime stagecoach inn from the County and is working together with community members to raise funds for demolition of the building and to transform the area into a community park and green space.
Unfortunately, the recent health crisis, Covid-19, has eliminated our plans for in person fundraising events for the foreseeable future. In the meantime, the building demolition plan must carry on for the safety of the public and enhancement of our community. We need your help!
We are currently focused on raising funds to bring down the house and address the required attention to the well and septic to make the property safely accessible. It is estimated the cost will be between $15,000 and $20,000 to raze the building and reclaim the lot as green space. Any additional funds will be devoted to tree planting and enhancements such as benches, possible gazebo and a playground.
The goal is to complete the job by the time the snow flies in the late Fall, early Winter of 2020. Renewing this space will benefit not only residents and visitors to Pine River but allow for much needed outdoor space for children and youth programming for the Library.
Any contribution to this effort will make this vision attainable and provide enrichment to all who live and visit our community.
THANK YOU!
