Pillowcases 4 Love

Hi, my name is Julie and I create soft, snuggly pillowcases for children in shelters whose families are seeking asylum at the New Mexico border. Each pillowcase has a tag that says "You are loved." One friend referred to the pillowcases as "little life rafts" that the child can take with them on their journey, and I think that is an appropriate description.

The pillowcases are delivered to several different border organizations / shelters that provide support for families seeking asylum legally such as Colores United, Unitarian Universalist Silver City Fellowship, and Border Partners.

During their three-day stay at the shelter, each child and mother with a newborn receives a pillowcase to use and then take with them on their journey. It is a small but powerful reminder that they are loved and not alone. We are all interconnected in our shared humanity.

Each pillowcase costs about $7 in materials. All labor is volunteer! We have made nearly 200 thus far. This fundraiser will allow us to purchase the materials to make 500+ more.
