
Volunteers help Puerto Rico and Vietnam Schools

Students from Oakton Community College, Des Plaines, IL., in collaboration with Partnerships in Education & Service (PIES), a 501(3)c charitable organization, return to Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, as well as a to Trang Bang, Vietnam, 2020 summer of volunteering . Teams in both locations will complete work on a children's library. In Puerto Rico, students will work with teachers from Escuela Agapito Rosario Rosario, prepare classrooms, complete the library started last summer for the new school year. In Vietnam, a new children's library awaits the sorting, coding and shelving of books. Your donation will help with transportation . accommodations and to purchase supplies for the staff in both locations.
After recent earthquakes in Puerto Rican, as well as the continued rebuilding and clean-up from the 2017 Hurricane, the schools still need assistance. The Vietnam library is a production of Children's LIbraries International, and PIES volunteers will bring their expertise and energy to help in the preparation process. OCC students provide volunteer hours; please help fund this causes.
Following 13 years of assistance to the schools of New Orleans (NOLA), post Hurricane Katrina, teams organized by Partnerships in Education & Service (PIES) are veterans at working with school disaster relief efforts. PIES teams are mostly educators and college students dedicated to civic service with public schools. PIES continues to support the teachers who dedicate their service to the children of NOLA, Puerto Rico, migrant schools in Utah, and now Trang Bang, Vietnam.
