Helping PICU Parents & Children this Christmas

Our family and our fellow PICU friends, have set a small goal this year is to raise enough money to purchase gift vouchers (probably a mix of Smyths and Just Eat) to gift to the families who will unfortunately be spending this Christmas in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow. ❤️‍

Last Christmas, 5 week old, Baby Millie had just fought to survive major open heart surgery lasting 19 hours, multiple complications, including life long airway damage. Her chest was open for 4 days and on Christmas day they tired to take her off of life support, promising that her mummy and daddy would get to hold their baby for the first time in a week, unfortunately she failed to come off of life support and Christmas day and the months that followed was extremely difficult for Millie and her family.

This time last year River was in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. At this point he had been there for the first 4 months of his life after getting multiple airway surgeries. He spent his first Christmas there, which broke us. Its not how you see having your first christmas with your baby. River fought everyday to get home but his journey in hospital continued. As he grew, there were lots of complications and new problems arised. This is when he was moved to PICU. He spend a substantial amount of time there for different reasons. But during this time in PICU we met Millies Parents, who we grew very close with.

We know all too well the pain and suffering the children and families in PICU will experience this Christmas.

Millie's parents were very thankful to the previous families for handing in vouchers for families like them (particularly the Just Eat vouchers when they struggled to look after their own basic needs at that desperate time).

We would love to be able to raise up to £1000 to purchase vouchers for 25 families in PICU this Christmas, to show them that they are not alone, we have once walked a similar path, and spread a tiny bit of Christmas spirit in their time of most need. ❤️‍
