West Vancouver Piano Cubes: Bringing Music to the Streets

Imagine strolling down Marine Street in West Vancouver, BC, Canada and stumbling upon a beautifully crafted piano, free for anyone to play. That's what we're bringing to life with the West Vancouver Piano Cubes project. We plan to install two high-quality pianos, housed in specially designed cubes, making music accessible to everyone and transforming the city's soundscape. We're excited to bring this musical innovation to Vancouver.

Why Piano Cubes?

Music is a universal language that inspires and connects us. By placing pianos in public spaces, we're not just decorating the city; we're inviting people to engage, learn, and share their passion for music. Whether you're a seasoned musician or someone who's always wanted to try playing, these pianos are for you. Beyond individual enjoyment, the Piano Cubes will serve as a stage for street performances, showcasing local talent and enriching our city's cultural offerings.

Project Goals:

  • Install two high-quality pianos on Marine Street beside ocean, housed in architecturally unique cubes.
  • Promote musical education and appreciation among the general public.
  • Host regular street performances, making classical music more accessible.
  • Foster a sense of community by providing a shared, creative space for people of all ages and backgrounds.

We're raising $500,000 CAD to make the West Vancouver Piano Cubes a reality. This budget covers everything from the purchase and maintenance of the pianos to the design and construction of the cubes. By backing this project, you're contributing to a vibrant, musical community. As a token of our appreciation, all donors have the option to be recognized on a plaque accompanying each piano cube.

Who Are We?

This initiative is led by the newly formed non-profit, the West Vancouver Classical Music Society, in collaboration with Dio Piano School, a beacon of classical music education in West Vancouver. With years of experience in music education and community engagement, we're committed to ensuring this project resonates with everyone.
