Phyllis Stegall : The Move Home

Donation protected
Phyllis Jackson Stegall is a woman of distinction. She gave us Margaret Moser and Stephan MacMillan Moser! While all of her children are accomplished, Margaret and Stephen blasted off into the stratosphere of the arts. Both were multi-talented. Margaret as a writer (newspaper, books, poetry, liner notes, magazines) for over 35 years. She founded the South Texas Popular Culture Museum, and was instrumental in the Austin Music Awards. While Stephen was a fashion journalist and couture designer with several runway shows showcasing his unique take on style. His creations were displayed in NYC Fifth Avenue store windows. Sadly, both of these amazing talents have recently passed. Two years and two days apart. Many hearts are broken, mostly, Phyllis's.

While raising her children, Phyllis had a full time career in private practice as a Psychologist. She is also an author and a water-colorist. Yet, she was devoted to her family and was there immediately when one of the four needed her. After 35 years of living in Seattle, she moved to Austin to be with Margaret who had been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. Phyllis went to every treatment session and sat for hours with Margaret until she surrendered her life in 2017.  Shortly after, Stephen was told he had metastatic bone cancer. Because Phyllis had promised him he would not die alone with strangers, she was his sole caregiver until he succumbed in her arms at Christopher House on August 27th.  Losing one child is painful and devastating. No words adequately describe the loss of two so close together. Yet, at 90, she does what she has to do, taking in stride whatever each day brings.

Now, it is time for us to help Phyllis! I created this fund with Phyllis's very reluctant approval, to help with the funding of her final expenses here and to help her start a new life she calls, The Final Move. There are death expenses, expenses to close the Texas chapter, and expenses of moving Phyllis, her pups, and her life's memories, 1500 miles to her new home in Maryland, where she will enjoy the love and care of her only living sibling, her little sister, Audrey. There, Phyllis will reside peacefully among Audrey's close knit family. Money doesn't ease the pain, but your donation will ease life in The Final Move.

Many Blessings ~
Thank you! ❤
