My name is Ashley, and I never imagined I would be writing this.

My partner, Josseth A. Becerra, is currently in ICE custody and is now facing imminent deportation to Mexico. He is being transferred out of Florida to a facility closer to the border in preparation for this. Josseth has lived in the United States his entire life—this is the only home he has ever known.

The thought of him being dropped in a country he does not know, with no family, no home, and no resources, is devastating. Overnight, our lives have been turned upside down.

As I navigate this heartbreaking reality, I am also carrying the full weight of our household alone—managing rent, vehicle and insurance payments, closing his business, and covering basic living expenses—while doing everything I can to protect my daughter and keep her world as stable as possible during this traumatic time.
