Phox and Gabe's VRXP Fundraiser 2025

Howdy!

This fundraiser is honestly mostly to help with the cost of two VRXP community projects that have been completed but that were combined rather financially draining to take on in full in the end.

The first item was a new computer for Phox, their computer actually ended up failing completely the same day the new PC I built for them was delivered and it was struggling terribly previously. Phox is an exceptionally good bean and sadly a nearly decade old computer hasn't really been up to task, and given that they're around a ton, they've been a very deserving recipient.

For Phox, the breakdown of parts cost went as follows without taxes or shipping:

CPU: Ryzen 7700X - $266.72

Motherboard: Gigabye B650 Eagel AX - $173.99

RAM: Corsair 32GB 6400mhz CL 36 - $89.99

Case: Gamdias Athena M3 - $69.99

Powersupply: Aresgame GT 850W - $74.99

Cooler: ID-Cooling FX360 Pro - $59.99

HDD: Crucial P510 1TB NVME - $99.99

GPU: Phox's only PC upgrade was an RX 6600 in their old PC, no GPU was required for it to be a massive upgrade already thankfully!

There were misc supplies and $110 in shipping and of course taxes that I'm not going to add up, but the total raw cost for putting together their new PC was:

$835.66

Initially I'd thought I would cover around $350 and the cost would be around $650 or so, then I'd just eat the shipping too, it ended up being a /bit/ more but if you know much about computers you'll see I was /very/ frugal with my parts selection while still getting good components and building a VERY solid computer, here are a few photos of it while being built and tested before it was shipped out so you can get an idea of what was built for the money.

The next item was a headset for Gabe, and this is actually money that I didn't spend but I owe to another member in the group who purchased and shipped the headset to Gabe to expedite getting them something. Gabe was around in desktop mode for a while and Furality was sort of a pivotal moment for them in the group, Gabe literally cried during the fireworks at Furality and was overjoyed with the time he got to spend with all of us and with the event but it was honestly sort of heart breaking that they've been around and enjoying things so much but had to experience the whole thing without ever having even gotten to try a VR headset.

Well, Gabe now has a Quest 3 and I've purchased and sent them all of or otherwise assisted with the requisite accessories for them to have a comfortable time in VR as best as can be.

The cost of getting Gabe a headset was $350 discounting any shipping costs

Effectively in the past month for both projects, I've spent/owe a combined total of:

$1,185.66

I don't want to ask for that amount, I won't be, I don't expect it and though I have certainly spent more than that after taxes and other misc expenses, mostly what I'm looking for is just this:

If you'd help with the cost of what's already been done, that'd be awesome, and since both projects have already been done and have already been paid for, you know what your donations are going towards, you can literally ask the people who've been provided equipment how much it's helped or meant to them, the help was provided already and if you'd like to help with what's already been done... that'd be awesome!

Any money raised beyond the goal will be put towards the next project, there's always more projects!

The next project is also related to Gabe, though we got them a headset, we didn't fully understand their PC situation... and they're also quite badly in need of an upgrade.

Currently Gabe is using an Intel i7 6700 from 2015 and an Nvidia GTX 970 with only 4 GB of VRAM from 2014.

I have a CPU, motherboard and ram that I will provide for a VERY frugal build to be a massive upgrade for Gabe, I have an x570 motherboard with a Ryzen 5 5600x but what I need further is:
