Hello, I’m Phoebe.
In January I will be running 100 miles to raise money for the charity mind. I want to set myself a challenge in 2026 and push myself outside of my comfort zone.
At the end of October, our family sadly lost my amazing Nana to suicide. It has been a massive shock to the family, and a struggle. She was always smiling, the most bubbly, funny person in the room, she was brave, and always up for a challenge, always active and staying fit, even when she was struggling. So I want to do this in her memory.
Mental health problems are a horrible condition, it’s a hidden disability, one that many people don’t have the courage to talk about.
If I can encourage just one person that is struggling to reach out for help, I’ll be truly happy.
I personally have struggled since the loss of my Nana, and I feel that this challenge will be a good thing for me to do for my mental health.
I want mental health to stop being such a taboo topic, it’s real and it’s raw and more people suffer than we can even imagine.
Mental health problems are just as bad, if not worse than physical problems, we’d seek help if we had a physical problem, so it’s so important we do the same when it’s mental.
Mind UK are an amazing charity that work across all England and wales. Raising money for the charity means that more people across the country can access the support they need in difficult times, and don’t have to struggle alone. They also have so much support available for families like ours, who have lost someone to suicide.
I plan on doing the runs in new places, not just my home town, 100 miles might not sound a lot for a month, however I am unfit, I haven’t ran in years. I go to college and own 2 horses, It’s going to be really hard, finding the time and the motivation as well as the strain I am putting on my body, but I am up for the challenge and I’m doing it for my Nana. I am going to make her proud.
Any small donations will be greatly appreciated. But even your support means the world
