Supporting families by completing 3 Challenges

Hi, my name is Phoebe and this year I’ve been learning what it feels like to live with the kind of fear that sits in your chest and never quite leaves. My mum is living with breast cancer and some days the small, ordinary things we all take for granted feel fragile and far away. She courageously undergoes harsh and invasive treatments and in those quiet, heavy moments that follow a diagnosis I wanted to do something more than just watch. I wanted to turn helplessness into action. That’s why I have decide to run a half-marathon, complete the Lake District 100km Ultra Challenge and climb Mount Kilimanjaro.

All funds raised through this page will be shared between three charities that are really special to me; Macmillan Cancer Support, Dig Deep and Breast Cancer Now. They help people facing some of life’s toughest challenges from the emotional and practical impact of a cancer diagnosis to challenges in communities that lack basic resources. These charities work on the frontlines to provide vital support, expert guidance and conduct life-saving research. Most importantly they give hope to individuals and families when they need it most and your donations help make that lifeline possible.

Learning how to be steady when everything around me felt unsteady has been challenging. There was one moment that changed everything, seeing the effects my mum treatment had on her was devasting, watching it strip away her energy and joy. I felt small and useless, but I also felt a fierce, clear urge to do something that mattered. That single quiet promise to try and make a difference, even in a small way. After personally seeing the impact these charities have, it inspired me to sign up for these events to help these charities that save so may people.

I’m taking on 3 big challenges to turn that promise into action: the London Landmarks Half Marathon 12th April, the Lake District 100 km Ultra Challenge 6th-7th June and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro starting 27th August. I’ve set a target of £1000 and every step, every mile and every share brings that target, and the support it will fund, closer to reality.

I won’t pretend this is easy. There will be early mornings, sore muscles and days that push me to my limit. But when I feel like stopping I’ll think of my mum and of every family who needs someone in their corner. If you can donate, you’ll be funding real care and real change. If you can’t give right now, sharing this page or sending a message of support helps more than you know.

Thank you for reading, for caring, and for being part of this with me. I can’t change what’s happening to my mum, but together we can change what happens for someone else. I’m doing this for love, for hope and for the people who need both right now. For every family learning to be brave in ways they never asked to be. Together we can turn fear into something that helps others.
