Pho Pasteur needs our support right now!
When Pho Pasteur opened in a long-neglected empty building on Snelling it brought delicious, first-rate, home-cooked Vietnamese food to the Hamline Midway. The family-owned restaurant quickly became a destination for pho lovers across the Twin Cities and every dish ordered is accompanied by a caring smile from one of the owners and, if you are lucky, a chat with little Jocelyn! Before the pandemic hit, business was very good.
Small entrepreneurial family businesses like Pho Pasteur support families, communities and are part of the fabric of life in the city. Our neighborhood is a better place to live because of Pho Pasteur.
In order for them to succeed in our neighborhood through the pandemic, however, they need help making it through the next few months. They are applying to all available city and county support funds, but none of that is guaranteed. Pho Pasteur’s sales are down over 70% (some days worse), they have bills to pay, and it costs a lot to just keep the lights on. They also really don’t want to lay off their employees who rely on this work for their livelihood.
When asked how the neighborhood can help, the owners’ first answer was to please buy their food. So please do this regularly and often if you can (they have gift cards too). If you have the means to directly support them, however, please donate to this GoFundMe campaign. Any amount helps! Without immediate support to their business, they will be in trouble. After all their financial investment to renovating a leased building, and the sweat equity of building a restaurant that City Pages awarded its 2020 Best Pho of the Twin Cities, it would be a disaster for them to lose it. As it turns out the City Pages couldn’t make it through the pandemic, so let’s try to keep this neighborhood gem afloat until things start to turn around.

(I have permission from Pho Pasteur as a Hamline Midway resident and concerned neighbor to set up this campaign. It is legit. If it makes a difference I’m also a professor at Hamline University.)
