Hi everyone! My name is David Van Cott and I am the scoutmaster of Troop 219 in St Petersburg, FL. I have the incredible privilege of leading two outstanding Scouts on a once-in-a-lifetime journey to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico in the summer of 2026.

For those unfamiliar, Philmont is often called the “Mount Everest of Scouting.” It’s a 12-day high-adventure trek through some of the most breathtaking and rugged wilderness in America. Our crew will backpack over mountain passes, cook our own meals, and face challenges that test every ounce of endurance, teamwork, and spirit we have.

The two Scouts I’m taking have worked so hard to get here — through years of camping, service, and personal growth. This trip represents the culmination of their Scouting journey — a chance to prove to themselves that they can meet any challenge and to return home as stronger, more confident young men.

We’re raising funds to help cover the costs of travel, gear, and trek fees so that both Scouts can experience this adventure — no matter their financial situation. Every dollar helps bring us one step closer to standing on those mountain peaks and living the Scout Law in the wild.

How the Funds Will Be Used

• Travel: Flights and transportation to and from Philmont Scout Ranch

• Program Fees: Philmont trek fees, and activities

• Gear & Supplies: Backpacks, hiking boots, tents, cooking equipment, and other essential items

Travel and Program Fees: $3200 per scout.

Gear & supplies: $1050 per scout.
