Phil Madda is so much more than an everyday hero. He is a selfless dad and friend, a master of his craft, a dedicated coach and member of the community, and someone who is constantly going above and beyond. He is always giving; whether it’s his time, talents, or resources- he always goes the extra mile. But most importantly, Phil is all around loved by everyone.
Sadly, in the last couple weeks, Phil has suffered multiple strokes back to back that have left him with many deficits. He is unable to walk, has little movement in his left arm as well as no mobility in his hand, impaired speech and still suffers a facial droop. Phil has already undergone multiple surgeries to help prevent further strokes from happening and will have to endure another to put a stent in his carotid artery.
Phil was transported by ambulance twice and life flighted downtown to a specialized neuro unit. He has accrued over $35,000 in medical debt just from transportation alone. After being in the NSU and then the ICU he was transferred to an acute rehab facility and most likely will be heading to another rehab that is more long term.
We are unsure if his body will regain normal functioning again, and at this time we don’t think he will be able to go back to work. He has a very long road ahead of him to say the least. Phil Madda, known to most everyone as Coach Madda, has given his whole life to selflessly coaching hundreds of kids in baseball, wrestling, and football. Never once was he paid for all of his dedication and investment into bettering the lives of everyone he touched.
He is always the first to give and the last to ever ask for help. But now it’s time for us to give back. Without working he is unable to afford the everyday costs of life that include his mortgage, bills, and now medical expenses. In addition to all of that, a new chair is needed to help him get around better. Please help us help Phil and stand by him to ease his burdens and stress.
