Dear Family and Friends,
I am so grateful and humbled to share that I have been given another incredible opportunity to participate in an inter-professional medical mission in Guatemala this coming February 2026!
Two years ago, I attended my very first mission. At the time, I wondered what difference I could possibly make for those less fortunate than myself. But after ten days, I realized the mission was never just about what I could give—it was about what I could learn. The people of Guatemala touched my heart deeply. Despite facing poverty, unsafe living conditions, and unimaginable challenges, their resilience, kindness, and strength inspired me and reaffirmed why I chose to become a nurse.
This upcoming mission will allow me to provide both nursing and dental health services in several communities, including:
• The Valley of Angels Orphanage, home to around 200 children just outside Guatemala City
• A rural Indigenous community in Moyuta, where healthcare is very limited
• The Basureros, Guatemala’s largest dump site, where families struggle to survive in heartbreaking conditions
Over ten days, I will join a team dedicated to delivering care, support, and hope to children and families who need it most.
I would be truly honoured if you could support me in making this mission possible. Any contribution, big or small, will help cover the costs of this trip and allow me to bring care and compassion to these communities. Your generosity will not only help me get there—it will directly touch the lives of those we serve in Guatemala.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for considering supporting me on this journey. I am so blessed to have such loving, supportive people in my life.
With gratitude,
Elli Abreu
