Ywam trip

Hi my name is Athena O’Toole. I am graduating from High School in May of 2018 and have decided to take a gap year with a mission.  I have been passionate about helping with the epidemic of child labor/slavery and and sex trafficking, since learning about it in 8th grade. I saw a documentary about it and it grabbed my heart realizing how helpless these victims are to help themselves.  I will begin my training in Perth, Australia, partnering with a group called YWAM (Youth with a mission).  The program is designed to help young people who’ve been sold into prostitution, human trafficking and child labor.  Exploitation of children in these areas has grown exponentially over the past few years.  An estimated 24.9 million victims are trapped in modern-day slavery; of these, 16 million were exploited for labor, 4.8 million were sexually exploited, and 4.1 million were exploited in state-imposed forced labor.

My goal is to raise $8,000 to fund my mission.  I am currently working 2 jobs to try and save as much money as possible to achieve my goal by June of 2018.  I leave Denver on July 7 and will travel 2 days to Perth. I will spend approx. 3 months in Perth in training and then I’ll be going into the field (probably somewhere in Asia) to put my studies into action. I am both excited and nervous about this next chapter of my life, but I trust that God will lead me and be with me as I follow my heart. I know He put the desire in my heart to become a part of this huge undertaking, and He will provide all that I need.
