The Peterson Family IVF Journey

Thank you for visiting our gofundme site.  This site has been created to help us with the expenses that are going to be coming from the IVF treatment. We were hoping to do all of this on our own, but we realized very quickly that we just can't.

I met and fell in love with my husband Andrew Peterson in 2008 and we got married in 2013. We wanted to start our family but knew it may be difficult because I have never had a natural menstruation cycle. At a young age I started testing with many doctors to find out why I didn’t have a cycle. After many tests and medications there was no answer to why I didn’t start naturally. In 2011, I was referred to a fertility specialist to be my OBGYN and to follow up for further testing. This is when I was diagnosed with Amenorrhea. Amenorrhea is defined as the absence of menstruation. My hormone levels don’t fluctuate to trigger a menstruation. My condition has hindered us from being able to conceive a baby on our own. We decided that nothing was going to prevent us from trying for a baby of our own. We tried naturally for years but then we found we needed to use medical intervention.

Our first step was to try a Clomid treatment for ovulation assistance. This started our emotional rollercoaster when the results showed no change. Our next step was to try the IUI – Intrauterine Insemination. I subjected my body to endless amounts of hormones and shots to allow my ovaries to ovulate. With a very expensive fee, we attempted this process 4 times. We have sacrificed each time emotionally, physically, and financially. With many prayers and high hopes each attempt was unsuccessful. With faith in knowing that we are meant to be parents, this has brought us to decision to continue with the IVF procedure – in-vitro fertilization.

IVF is an even more expensive, multi-step medical procedure. The more we have looked in to this the more over whelming and out of reach the procedure has become. IVF is only covered by insurance in 9 states NOT including California. This means our insurance doesn't cover any IVF treatments. The cost of the treatment is upwards of $25,000! Unfortunately, that price does not include any medications. Andy and I are humbly and whole heartedly asking for help with donation and prayers to continue our journey in starting our family.  Every donation matters and we will be forever grateful for your love and support in reaching our goal.
