Pedalling for Petersfield Pool: Our Hayling Cycle Ride Challenge!

**Introduction:**

Hello everyone! This July, my son Rory and I are taking on the **Hayling Cycle Ride**—a legendary charity event since 1986—to support the **Petersfield Open Air Swimming Pool (POASP)**. As a cherished community gem since 1962, POASP has been a lifeline for swimmers of all ages, including our family. All three of my children learned to swim here, and Rory has since grown into a skilled lifeguard, thanks to the opportunities the pool provides. Now, we’re thrilled to give back by cycling over **370 miles across France**—a challenge we first conquered in 2019 and can’t wait to repeat! .

Why Petersfield Open Air Swimming Pool?

- **Life-Saving Skills:** Swimming is a vital life skill, and POASP has nurtured generations of confident swimmers—including Rory, who now safeguards others as a lifeguard.

- **Community Heartbeat:** Run as a charity and supported by volunteers, the pool relies on donations to stay op*en, offering lessons, fitness sessions, and a safe space for families .

- **Our Connection:** From splashing as toddlers to mastering strokes, POASP has been a second home for my children. This ride is our way of saying *thank you*.

**The Challenge:**

- **Route:** Portsmouth to Paris and back (July 5–11, 2025), cycling **60–88 miles daily** through stunning French countryside .

- **Cause:** Every penny raised will help maintain this "treasured gem" for future swimmers and lifeguards-in-training.
