Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation Wildfire State of Emergency

The devastation unfolding in the north is truly heartbreaking and continues to intensify by the hour.

Thousands of families and colleagues from our communities—Pelican Narrows, Denare Beach, Sandy Bay, Southend, Creighton, and Flin Flon—have been forced to evacuate their homes with little to no personal belongings. With the support of the Canadian Red Cross, many have found temporary refuge across Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Unfortunately, due to capacity constraints, some families have been separated during relocation.

Peter Ballantyne Group of Companies, proudly owned by the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, remains on standby, ready to assist our community members in any way we can. We sincerely welcome support from individuals and businesses, and all donations will be distributed through our community coordinators to ensure they reach those most in need.

Yaya is the VP HR for Peter Ballantyne Group of Companies and she'll be transferring the funds into the organization's bank account directly.

We have allocated some funds already towards:

Prepared meals on first night of evacuations

Wal mart gift cards

Nutrien wonderhub kids center passes

Children's festival tickets

The majority will be devoted towards food security upon repatriation.

We are administering as needed per discussion with our Chief, our group of companies is wholly owned by Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation so the funds are all devoted to recovery efforts.

We remain hopeful for swift containment of the situation and continue to closely monitor developments.
