Perth Hills Community for Junbo

On the 25th of June a white Nissan Navara utility collided with a blue Ford Falcon station wagon at the intersection of Hale Road and Tonkin Highway shortly after 10pm on Wednesday.

The driver was evading police and sadly the car being driven by Junbo Shim was hit and Junbo died at the scene. He had not been in Australia long, but had quickly taken to our Aussie culture, becoming one of our Fifo workers and loving his new adventure.

Junbo is from South Korea and instead of his family coming here to Perth to celebrate his new life, they are instead taking their son home to lay him to rest.

I have met with the family and have told them that we as a community want to celebrate their son, that he will not be remembered as a road statistic and that we hope out love and compassion will help them as they deal with this devastating loss.

The main fundraising revenue was going to be collected by cashing in cans, however people have asked if I would create a Go Fund Me as well so they can contribute financially. The money will be used by the family to pay costs associated with their travel as well as funeral costs for their son.

On behalf of the family I would like to extend their greatest appreciation for the kindness being shown to them. I have promised them that as a community we will remember this young man and he now becomes part of ourt family as well. Junbo we have never met you but know that you matter and we will do what is needed to take care of those grieving your loss of life.
