Hi, our names are Isabella and Gianna, and we are two sisters who have been working to combat the current period-inequity epidemic millions of young girls face daily. We saw the need for change in our community and decided to take action.

Who We Are: 

    Started in 2021, SisterGoods Bay Area is an all-female, a student-run charity focused on addressing and alleviating menstrual health disparities that perpetuate structural inequities. 16.9 million girls struggle to afford period products. The scary reality is that women have to choose between buying food or menstrual products. Because of this, 84% of teens either know someone who, or have personally, missed school due to their period. This causes millions of girls to fall behind, miss extracurricular activities, and put their life on pause for a week.

    We believe that no girl should have to sacrifice their education, mental or physical well-being due to their period. To address this problem, SisterGoods Bay Area has worked to donate thousands of period kits to low-income schools and shelters. In the past year alone, we have donated over 3,000 period kits to local Title 1 schools in the Bay Area, serving both the Oakland and San Francisco Unified School Districts! With the current state of our economy and the increasing tampon shortage, it is now more important than ever to ensure that young girls have access to essential products.

The Kits: 

    Each donation goes directly to purchasing pads, tampons and bags, which we assemble into kits. There are two types of kits we assemble: pad only and combination tampon & pad kits. Pad only kits consist of 12 pads, and the combination kits consists of 7 pads & 16 tampons. Each kit is enough to last a girl for 1 month. Each kit costs roughly $5 to make, and every kit is donated to low-income schools in the Bay Area to distribute to their students.
