Pere village cold storage fundraiser
Donation protected
Hi my name is Wilfred Amai, I am fund raising to buy cold storage facilities to restore fresh fish buying services in Pere village, Manus island (Province), Papua New Guinea.
The ocean is a gold mine for Pere villagers as well as for all villages around Manus island. The livelihood of Pere villagers depends primarily on fishing. Pere needs a fish buyer service in the village so that the fishermen do not have to travel to town to sell their fish.
I had successfully run this fish buying business in Pere village over 10 years ago and it served the village well. But I had to leave to return to studies and so my fish buying service stopped and no one came in to do it and the village suffered after that as a result.
The Pere villagers would like my fish buying service restored. The Pere Asi Executive Council (PAEC) has therefore on the 5th of January 2025 unanimously given me their endorsement to revive this fish buying business as it addresses a genuine need of the people.
Due to its location, Pere village is an ideal central business district for many villages on the South Coast of Manus island so this intended fish buying service will be serving other villages as well, an estimated population of 5,000+ lives.
In a month's time (February 2025), school will start and I can already see parents worrying about how they will fund raise to pay for their kids school fees if they can't sell their fish. The market in town is too far and thus unprofitable for selling fish due to the costs involved to get to market.
To help me revive fish buying services in Pere village, cold storage facilities are required in the village with sufficient storage capacity. This includes freezers, ice makers, power supply and fuel (planning hybrid renewable energy solar/wind supplemented by petrol / diesel).
On January 5th 2025, I got endorsement from the Pere Asi Executive Council (PAEC), the highest governing body of Pere village, to do what was necessary to restore fish buying service in the village. I also got endorsement to deliver a string of other developments that I have been working on for the village including fish farming and eWallet banking services. All these are aimed at boost the economy of the village and it's neighbors once business gets going. I have also got similar endorsement from the Manus Provincial Government through the Division of Fisheries and Marine Resources to collaborate with them to improve fish trade services in the province.
The supply of fish in the Manus market outweighs demand in the province. Good external markets for Manus fish have therefore been established through my business network in the bigger provinces to underwrite this venture and make it all possible.

Our Trustee in Sweden:
This Gofundme will fund a 20 ton cold storage facility in Pere village to get the fish buying business off the ground. Pere village is in Papua New Guinea where Gofundme donations cannot be deposited directly so we are working with one of our leader's and my very own uncle, Mr Kiapin Langarap, who is based in Sweden. Mr Langarap is my appointed trustee to receive the Gofundme donations and transfer them to us in Papua New Guinea to deliver the project.

Existing cold storage:
Currently existing freezers in the village with a total capacity of 1000L without power capacity is insufficient for this business to get off the ground.
With the advantage of FAD (Fish Aggregation Devices) technology selectively positioned in the ocean around Pere, this village has proven ability to catch a ton of fish in a single day.
For this fundraiser we therefore aim to provide enough cold storage with sufficient power capacity to store 2 tons of fish. As storage reaches it's maximum capacity, fish stock will be relocated to town where bigger storage facilities will be located.

I call on friends, family and any generous souls out there around the world to help Pere village fund raise for this genuine and noble cause.
Thank you for your kind consideration!
