Ciao, mi chiamo Agnese.

Quest'anno sono riuscita ad unire due delle mie più grandi passioni: viaggiare e stare coi bambini. Ho passato un mese a fare la volontaria in un orfanotrofio a Manila, nelle Filippine, dove ho avuto l'occasione di conoscere 20 bambine e ragazze ed ho passato tanto tempo con loro, ma non abbastanza! Abbiamo condiviso momenti di gioco e divertimento, di chiacchiere leggere, ma anche di discorsi profondi e di preghiera... tanti sorrisi, ma anche tante lacrime.

Mi hanno accolto fin da subito con amore e gioia, chiamandomi ATE, che in filippino significa SORELLA.

In quel mese, in realtà, sono state loro a insegnarmi molte cose, oltre alla loro lingua e alla loro cultura.

La lezione più importante, che mi sono portata a casa, è che la felicità non sta nella quantità di cose che possediamo, ma in quello che sappiamo donare e il tempo di qualità condiviso insieme.

Grazie a loro, il mio cuore ha un pezzo in più.

In questi mesi ho pensato continuamente a loro e a come poter restituire almeno una piccola parte del bene che hanno fatto a me.

Durante le vacanze di Natale ci tornerò e mi piacerebbe portare con me qualche panettone e una donazione.

Sister May, oltre a essere responsabile dell'orfanotrofio, è preside della scuola dell'infanzia e fornisce quotidianamente pasti ai tantissimi bambini che vivono in strada. Parlando con lei, abbiamo pensato di attivare questa raccolta fondi, con l'obiettivo di fornire un pasto più sostanzioso ai bambini durante le vacanze di Natale e nei mesi successivi.

Chiedo la vostra collaborazione nel condividere, con più amici possibili, quest'iniziativa.

Hi, my name is Agnese.

This year I was able to combine two of my greatest passions: traveling and being with children. I spent a month volunteering in an orphanage in Manila, in the Philippines, where I had the chance to meet 20 girls. I spent so much time with them — but not enough! We shared moments of play and laughter, light conversations, but also deep talks and prayer… many smiles, but also many tears.

They welcomed me with love and joy from the very beginning, calling me Ate, which in Filipino means sister.

During that month, it was actually them who taught me so much — not only about their language and culture.

The most important lesson I brought home is that happiness doesn’t come from what we possess, but from what we are able to give, and from the quality time we share with others.

Thanks to them, my heart has grown a little bigger.

Over the past months, I have constantly thought about them and about how I could give back at least a small part of the good they have done for me.

I will return during the Christmas holidays, and I would love to bring some panettone and a donation with me.

Sister May, in addition to being the head of the orphanage, is also the principal of the preschool and provides daily meals to many children who live on the streets. After talking with her, we decided to start this fundraiser with the goal of offering more substantial meals to the children during the Christmas holidays and in the months that follow.
