The People’s Army is an Islington-wide support organisation set up made entirely of volunteers to assist those in need during the COVID-19 crisis and beyond.
We have been providing support since the 1st of March 2020 mainly supplying meals and food parcels to those in need along with friendly phone calls, grocery pick up and medication collections.
We will be cooking and distributing 350 meals a day, 3 times a week for the next 3 months so providing 12,600
meals to those in need in Islington once we have raised enough funds.
The money donated will go towards kitchen equipment, meal containers, cutlery etc.
The food for the meals will be sourced, prepped and prepared by qualified chefs and local volunteers.
The meals then will be delivered to those in need or available to be picked up for takeaway.
Please note, it is our intention to provide meals for as long as possible, to those in need or (the homeless, rough sleepers, people shielding or self-isolating and any families who need food). So, if we are successful in meeting our target, we will use it to continue cooking for as long as we can.
