Dear friends and family,

When I left prison, a correction officer said to me, "You being here helped me get my boat. And when your son gets here, he's gonna help my son get his boat." It's 25 years later, and one of my sons is a battle-tested US Marine, and the other is on his way to Duke University. But that didnt happen by chance. I had support.

As my birthday approaches (October 30), I've chosen to celebrate AGAIN this year by dedicating it to a cause. I'm launching a fundraiser to support men and women who are exiting jail and returning to their communities. And, I am going to give the money directly to people who recently left jail and prison. No strings. No paternalistic BS. No grant reports. Just cash to human beings. The transition from incarceration to society can be incredibly challenging, and to be frank, people need money to survive.

Instead of traditional birthday gifts, I kindly request your support for this important cause. Your contribution will provide some support to people trying to get their lives back on track...or, they might use the money to take their kids to dinner, and that's okay.
