I have worked for People First Keighley & Craven for just over a year and I volunteered from the October before that. I decided to try to raise some funds for the PFK&C members, who have become so important to me and the other staff & volunteers. Our funding was cut and Hanna & I , as well as all the staff and volunteers want to try to help.
I'll raise the money, the members decide how to spend it!
So I’m climbing up Snowdonia! I want to challenge myself, whilst also doing something big enough to encourage people to donate! I will be climbing up the Snowdonia National Park on the 5th October 2019, walking an all round total of 8 miles. The route takes you from just above sea level at 3,330 feet to 1,015 metres high! It is estimated that it takes the average person around 6 hours to complete.
It's going to be such a big challenge for me as before training for this I hadn't done a lot of hiking at all! I'm lucky to have friends and family coming along with me for moral support! I have even started a weight loss and fitness programme to try get me ready for the big day!
We started the fundraising already, one of our volunteers did a Facebook birthday fundraiser and has already raised over £200. We want to continue that momentum and really give something back to the amazing members who bring so much joy to our lives.
