Penn Masala Donation Match

We at Masala are deeply saddened and moved by the tragic acts of violence against George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and countless other individuals across America. We recognize that the South Asian community and global music industry has benefited from the sacrifices and efforts of the Black community and that we must support our Black brothers and sisters in the fight for a truly inclusive society.
As students at the University of Pennsylvania, we recognize the contributions the Black community has made to Philadelphia and to the music industry at large. Our group, our school, and our city would not be the same without this vibrant community, and we want to use our platform to give back and stand up for racial justice.
We ask that you join us and our alumni in donating to two organizations providing essential health resources for Black women and men in Philadelphia. Your donation will be 100% matched.
1. The Black Women’s Health Alliance works to improve health care outcomes and reduce health disparities for African American and other minority women.
2. Black Men Heal provides access to mental health treatment, psycho-education, and community resources to men of color.
All donations up to $10,000 will be matched through our corporate sponsor, meaning that your contribution will be doubled. We invite our listeners, peers, and others to donate, share this fundraiser, and use their voices to speak out for racial justice.
Sierra Yit is an alumni of the University of Pennsylvania '17 with ties to Penn Masala. She will make the donations to each charity on behalf of Penn Masala through the Benevity platform in order to obtain corporate matching from her place of employment.
