SD State Penitentiary - prison TV channel revamp

The South Dakota State Penitentiary (SDSP) in Sioux Falls, SD is similar to many prisons in the US: full of inmates struggling and coping with their day-to-day. Many are facing very difficult situations including depression, mental health issues, physical health problems, suicidal thoughts, lack of education, missing loved ones or more. Trying to work on any of these things is always difficult, and even more so for those on "the inside" with little or no support.

Luckily there are positive forces at play inside SDSP breathing new life into a key channel for education and awareness: the internal prison video channel system. It's called SPIN: State Penitentiary Information Network. The SPIN channel has been around for years, but it has been lacking and stagnant. With little or no new content, antiquated technology systems, and status-quo thinking, the channel has not a lot of opportunity for additional impact around how to integrate the content into everyday life for inmates.

SPIN is about to undergo a complete makeover. The network will be producing original content about Behavioral Health, Physical Health and expanding into other areas.
The SPIN group is converting a room in the Chapel where new content will be filmed and produced. As you can see from the video above, produced by an inmate at the prison spearheading these changes, there is a lot of great opportunity and value in bringing these new ideas to life.

We invite you to donate as much as you can to help breathe new life into this critical channel of support inside SDSP. We are happy to answer any questions you have, so please feel free to reach out.
