Standing in Faith: We Are Adopting!
Dearest Friends and Family,
They say it takes a village to raise a child. Well, in our story, it takes a village to help us meet our child. After years of careful prayer and consideration, we feel called to open our home to the beauty of adoption.
Many of you know our story or parts of our story. For those of you who do not, please allow me to share our story with you…
Thanks to a welcoming youth group and the invitation of friends, Cam and I were able to meet each other as teenagers. Although my brothers were the first to claim Cam’s friendship, I was the one to claim his heart. Years passed and our commitment to each other grew. We married on August 4, 2007, in the same church where we once attended youth group together. Now a married couple, we were hoping to begin our family. However, after facing years of disappointment, we met with doctors who confirmed that our unexplained infertility would be our reality. As someone who has yearned for the experience of motherhood, my heart was filled with anger, frustration, and overwhelming grief. Time has passed and God has taken us to different cities and states to follow His callings. After almost 14 years of marriage, the Lord called us back to where our story started. We were blessed with the opportunity to purchase my childhood home which would allow us to be close to Cam’s family and closer to my brothers. Regardless of our location or career paths, it felt as if God still whispered to my heart that our family was not yet complete. Through the years, I have remembered that Elizabeth was once visited by an angel who said she would have a child at a time in her life that was least expected. Our faith provides us with countless examples of women of faith who stood in the hope and power of God to answer the call of motherhood. I take solace in the fact that miracles do happen.
We would love to welcome a child into our family. We long to raise a child in our hometown where our story first began. As children of faith, we believe that God has heard our cries. We feel the Lord has allowed this time to pass in preparation for what is to come. Time to strengthen our marriage, to heal our hearts, and to grow our family in a different way. So, yes, we are prepared to stand on the precipice of the unknown as we face the journey of adoption.
We humbly ask that you pray for us, encourage us, hope with us, and consider donating to our adoption fund. The cost of the adoption process is an overwhelming estimate of $50,000 to $60,000. The process will be long and the investment will be substantial. However, our God is greater than any obstacle. This is when faith meets action. We are ready.
Thank you, dear friends, and family, in advance for your prayers, encouragement, and financial support. We also ask that you pray for the child that awaits us. With grateful hearts, thank you for loving us and supporting us in whatever way you are called to do so.
