Pen y Fan Fundraising walk in Memory of Alyx

Here at Golden Manor Nursery we are fundraising to hopefully raise enough money to buy a defibrillator. We think this would be a fantastic resource for us at the nursery but also for the community should it ever be needed.

To support this fundraiser we are taking part in a sponsored walk up the mountain of Pen-y-Fan on the 11th May, in memory of Alyx Edwards.

Alyx attended Golden Manor last year and gained a very special place in all of our hearts. Alyx unfortunately passed away in November 2023.

Alyx brought so much life and joy to Golden Manor and we are forever grateful, so we think having this defibrillator could possibly bring life back to someone in need.

All of the Golden Manor team would be extremely grateful for any donations made towards this fundraiser.

It was an honour to know Alyx and it will be an honour to do this alongside her mummy, daddy and baby brother Brodie.

Our beautiful daughter Alyx died on Saturday 11th November 2023, suddenly and unexpectedly from sepsis. Early Saturday morning Alyx stopped breathing and Katie (Alyx's Mummy) bravely began CPR on her dying daughter whilst I was asked to go to the nearest defibrillator and retrieve it. Despite our efforts and the wonderful medical professionals that attempted to resuscitate Alyx, she could not be saved.

Our hearts and lives are completely broken without Alyx.

Jess from Golden Manor Nursery reached out to us expressing their desire to do a sponsored walk in Alyx's memory and we agreed that we would like to raise money for a defibrillator to be placed at the nursery Alyx loved so much. We hope it will never be used but should it be needed there will be one immediately available to help one of Alyx's friends, classmates or staff.

If we raise enough money we would also like to fund a defibrillator for Freshwater West beach. We likewise hope it will never be needed, but if it is, it will be able to help the families and individuals that visit Fresh West.

Alyx loved Golden Manor Nursery and the caring staff and children she spent time with and it's our honour to give back to them in this small way.
