Peloton4 Wounded Warriors & Donalda

Donation protected
This morning Donalda posted her inspiring story on The Official Peloton Rider page.   Our PeloFriends think she needs her own bike!  She said she'd rather see Wounded Warriors get a bike.  Who thinks we can do both???  Here's her story in her own words, followed by words from a friend.  Please consider donating a few dollars if you're able.  Wouldn't it be great if her husband returned from deployment to a Peloton?  And even better if we could send one to a Wounded Warrior!

$6000 will cover two bikes, accessories and warranty or delivery.

2005 I had a head on accident & broke everything from the neck down. Because I love challenges I embraced my newly added 4 pounds of hardware especially a metal femur plus I'm a stubborn Latina. To make it even more fun I contracted Lyme disease which wasted no time to attack the joints or anywhere the metal is. This has been an up and down battle...plus I had twins to think of 1st. Twin boys to bring my already joyous bunch of mommy's men to 5! The hardest battle has been weight gain and not by choice but with medications and pain. Enough of the pity party, I said....enough of being afraid to look at myself in the mirror! ENOUGH! So, I studied up on paleo and gluten free dietary choices. Then with baby-steps I began more cardio. Commercials are popping up about this "peloton" thingy. I asked my husband and we looked into the cost. He nearly had a heart attack at 37 and flat out said "no way! We can't afford that!" I searched my budgeting on my pay and found a way.
Wait...my story gets better...
Then I lost my job! And right before my husband was leaving on deployment! They let me go as I was going to lunch! I was angry and crushed! My husband was so supportive especially when he should be more focused on preparing to leave. He said, "at least get the app. Use the bikes at the YMCA." So I did ... almost a year ago. To date I get up at 0500 before my boys are up & head down as soon as the Y opens (left at home are my 21 yr old college boy and 7 yr old twins). I have my fav two instructors: Robin & Cody. These two have helped me shed nearly 30 pounds, no more pain medication & new found love to prance around the mirror BUCK NAKED! I am sure if I did indeed have my Peloton to where I can see my stats while also having Robin call me out for not adding enough resistance...that 30 pounds might just be more a 50! Ya, I'm sure the other early risers at the YMCA are wondering what the hell I am listening to or watching on my phone since I'm showing my "mom-swag" or why I'm up 8 down 8 up 4 down 4 then just hovering over the bike seat. Well....it's my Peloton coaches still helping me along. With or without that bike. Either way, when that ship returns from deployment...my husband will see a new attitude along with a new body.

Thank you all for an amazing program, amazing support group and truly amazing coaches!

From a friend...
"Donalda is the one in the gym who always has a word of encouragement and kindness, the one who finishes her workout only to walk over while you finish yours to cheer you on and tell you she knows you can do it. She is the one in the gym who fights hard and pushes through to get her results. Then she'll pick herself up off the floor and chat with you about family and life or some amazing delicacy she and her husband Pete, dreamed up in the kitchen. Her heart is open and on her sleeve - she is a bright spot in the gym and in the world.
Donalda is an inspiration in many ways. She decided to get a Peloton to take charge of her fitness. When life threw her a curveball, her amazing spirit kicked in and she found another way. To have achieved such success while single-handedly parenting twin 7 year olds, and holding down the home front while Pete is deployed, using a bike at the gym, in the wee hours, with the Peloton app is truly inspiring. Won't it be awesome to watch her really get to go after it on the bike that we all love so much??"
